Define warning messages

Use this procedure to print error messages from W-2 Forms (PR297), EFW2 File Creation (PR299), and PRW2E in a separate error message report. You can also use this topic to remove certain error messages from the existing W-2 Error report or specify certain messages to print on a new error report.

You can define up to 20 messages for PR297, 20 for PR299, and 10 for PRW2E.

  1. Access Year End Parameter (PR27.1)
  2. Select a Company.
  3. Select a Country Code. This field determines the topics that display in the Topic field.
  4. Specify the reporting year in the Payroll Year field.
  5. Select a Process Level if applicable.
  6. Select the topic and inquire to display the associated data items.
  7. Find the category (data item) and message number associated with the errors that you want to move to the wm-errors report.

You can find these messages on the Knowledge Base.

  8. Specify the message number next to the appropriate data item. (For example, to move a message for PR299, specify the message number next to the PR299 data item.)
Note: When you run PR297 and PR299, the messages you identified will print in an output file called wm-error. The other messages will print in an output file called w2-error.
Note: The file you create when you specify a file name in the Error CSV Filename field of PR297 creates a CSV file of only the messages in the w2-error file.
