Use this procedure to identify retirement plan information for updating W-2 Box 13 Retirement Plan Indicator EFW2 RW retirement indicator.

Specify this information:

Benefit Plan Type DB/DC If you want the program to create a list of deduction codes tied to Benefit Plan (BN15) DB/DC type plans, then specify a Y in this field. The Year End programs will check for employee deduction history in the identified deduction codes to control updating Box 13 Retirement Plan.
Retirement Ded Class

Select the deduction class that shows the employer or employee contribution to an employee's retirement plan.

The Year End programs will check for employee deduction history in the identified deduction class to control updating Box 13 Retirement Plan.

Retirement Ded Code

Select the deduction code that shows the employer or employee contribution to an employee's retirement plan.

The Year End programs will check for employee deduction history in the identified deduction codes to control updating Box 13 Retirement Plan.

Retirement Ded Group

Select the deduction group that shows the employer or employee contribution to an employee's retirement plan.

The Year End programs will check for employee deduction history in the identified deduction groups to control updating Box 13 Retirement Plan.

Note: The Year-End programs automatically update Box 13 for employees with deduction history on deductions with a pretax retirement Tax Status and/or a Roth Tax Status. Use this topic if you have employees who contribute to a retirement plan with after tax deductions or company paid deductions.
