Why is viewing work orders for a source document helpful?
You can view all of the work orders that are tied to a source document by using Source Document Inquiry (WO83.1). Three reasons why multiple work orders are created for a source document are:
-
When you run Batch Work Order Creation (WO120), capacity restrictions may cause work orders to be created on different days for the same source document.
-
You can split demand manually onto multiple work orders using Production Schedule (WO20.1).
-
If you cannot produce all of the planned quantity, you split a work order using Production Feedback (WO40.1).
With several work orders tied to a single source document, you need critical information before deciding whether to delete work orders and make them available for rescheduling. With WO83, you can do just that - view the item, work order and status, and planned and actual quantities.
