Defining an Inventory Control company

An Inventory Control company is an organizational structure that holds your inventory locations. The Inventory Control company is defined from an existing General Ledger company. You assign an item group, Inventory Control locations, report groups, period end dates, and bin usage types to your Inventory Control company. This procedure explains how to define your Inventory Control company.

Define an Inventory Control company

  1. Access Company (IC01.1).
  2. Define header information.
  3. Type Last Year End Date.
  4. To define additional parameters, use these guidelines.
    Rules

    Use this tab to define rules your company will follow in Inventory Control, such as allocation methods or whether you allow negative stock-on-hand.

    Document Numbering

    Use this tab to define document numbering options for Inventory Control documents.

    Available

    Use this tab to set up available-to-allocate and available-to-sell calculations.

    If Work In Process is added to the Available to Allocate amount on this tab, then work order finished goods can be allocated prior to completing production. Work In Process can also be included in the Available to Sell amount.

    Work Order

    Use this tab to select how work order numbers are assigned. Your options are:

    • Auto assign work order numbers

    • Manually assign work order numbers

    • Production Order application is not used

    Priority Levels

    Use this tab if you allocate items based on priority, type priority numbers for various applications with 1 being the highest priority.

    User Fields

    Use this tab to define fields for Inventory Control, Warehouse, or Production Order that are used for your own reporting or inquiry purposes.

    Requisition Center

    Use this tab to define Requisition Center tasks allowed and list only fields (contract and internal items).

    Audits

    Contains a list of audit flags so you can select whether changes to various tables should be audited.

  5. Select the Add form action to add your company.
