Overriding tax rates by product tax category
Special situations can exist that require you to make an item taxable in one state but not another. For example, carbonated beverages are taxed in Alabama, but not in Alaska. Product tax categories let you manage this situation.
You set up a product tax category for an item when you define the item in the Inventory Control application. A product tax category lets you group specific items so that the group of items can be taxed differently. For information on defining product tax categories, see the Inventory Control User Guide.
Before you try to override tax rates by product tax category, you must define tax codes and rates.
