About using a relation with an account
A user analysis relation identifies the valid user analysis value combinations available in transactions for a specific general ledger account. A user analysis relation can be applied to a summary, detail, or posting account.
When you assign a user analysis relation to an account, you must assign a user analysis group to the chart of accounts. The user analysis group that you assign to the chart of accounts must have the same group used to define the user analysis relation.
If you assign a user analysis group to a chart of accounts and user analysis relation to a specific account, then you can only include values for that account according to the user analysis relation.
You cannot delete a user analysis relation in User Analysis Value Relation (SL02.1) if it is attached to an account. If you change a user analysis that is used in a relation, then you must redefine the user analysis relation.
You can also assign a user analysis relation to a posting account in Account Options (GL20.3).
Business scenario information
Moose Wood Outfitters wants to track amounts for camping and outdoor sporting equipment it sells to large-scale buyers. MWO has a special detail account called Supply Contract that requires the user analysis relation (MWO_RELATION). MWO can use the relation to limit the user analysis values on the Supply Contract account to camping and outdoor sporting equipment supplied through contracts.
