User analysis values
User analysis values are additional analysis categories that are assigned to user analyses. User analysis values store business information in Strategic Ledger transactions, which become dimensions you define for analysis and reporting. For each user analysis value, you will define a description, type (alpha or numeric), size of data (number of characters), and status.
When you define a user analysis, you can build a table of valid user analysis values or leave the table empty. User analysis values in transactions are validated against the table during data entry in Lawson applications, or when you interface transactions from non-Lawson systems. You must define valid user analysis values if you want to:
-
Enforce consistency when user analysis values are populated to ensure more accurate analysis
-
Enable users to select valid user analysis values during data entry in Lawson applications
-
Define relationships between user analysis values to require valid combinations of data. See Setting up value relations.
If you choose not to define valid user analysis values, then any data that conforms to the user analysis's field size and type is allowed.
Business example
For each user analysis, you can assign specific values to limit the information allowed on transactions. Moose Wood Outfitters defined a user analysis of MWO_DIST and assigned user analysis values of Standard Delivery, Overnight Delivery, Customer Pickup, and Local Delivery. This will assist them to identify their distribution methods.
