Defining an allocation total

Use this procedure to define the Strategic Ledger summarized period base amount, transaction amount, report currency one and two, or unit totals for the allocation pool and driver. The Total Name is used in the allocation setup to determine which total name is the allocation pool and optional driver.

  1. Access Allocation Totals (SL11.1).
  2. Define an allocation total to be used in the allocation. Use these guidelines to specify the field values:
    Total Name

    This is the user-defined total name.

    Folder

    This is the folder name that is defined in Folder (RW01). This is used to organize and store the total names.

    User Analysis Group

    This is the allocation user analysis group.

    Type

    This field indicates whether the transaction amount or the unit, or both will be used as the driver or the pool. Amounts, trans, base, report 1 and 2, and units are allocated based on the driver percentage. A driver cannot use the value of Both.

    Currency

    Use this field to filter for records with a specific transaction currency. Leaving this field blank pulls all transaction currencies.

  3. Click the Strategic Ledger tab. Consider these fields:
    User Analysis

    At least one user analysis or list is required. This field occurs four times. This is the major user analysis segments that are used as the criteria in pulling Strategic Ledger transactions for allocation processing. Select the User Analysis or the List. Use the list if multiple values are needed. The first occurrence of the pool total must be the primary user analysis, it cannot be a list. The first occurrence of the driver total must be the primary user analysis, which can be a list.

    Value

    Select a value if the user analysis is populated. This field occurs four times. These are the values of the user analysis segments that are used as the criteria in pulling Strategic Ledger transactions for allocation processing. Use the list if multiple values are needed. The first occurrence of the pool total must be a single value for the primary user analysis.

    Blank = a value of blank

    User Analysis List

    At least one user analysis value or list is required. This field occurs four times. Create a list for each user analysis segment that is used as the criteria in pulling Strategic Ledger transactions for allocation processing. Select the user analysis value or the list. Use the list if multiple values are required. The first occurrence of the pool total cannot be a list; this is the primary user analysis. The first occurrence of the driver total, which can be a list, is also the primary user analysis.

  4. Click the General Ledger tab. Consider these fields:
    Accounting Unit List

    The accounting unit list is optional and, if populated, will further define the criteria in pulling Strategic Ledger transactions. The list can consist of multiple companies, but the allocation is for a single company and will only pull total amounts for that company.

    Account List

    The account list is optional and, if populated, will further define the criteria in pulling Strategic Ledger transactions.
