Using System Control with Payroll

  1. As part of the payroll cycle, access and run Payroll Close (PR197).

PR197 checks to ensure the General Ledger dates on PR197 fall within the valid entry date range on GL01.1 for the PR system code.

  2. Access and run General Ledger Posting (PR198) at the end of the period to post GL transactions created by PR197.
  3. Access Payroll Period Close (PR196).

Before you run PR196, be sure all payrolls for the period have been posted with PR198 and that PR198 has successfully completed. After the period is closed for the PR subsystem using PR196, you can run General Ledger Period Close (GL199) to close a GL accounting period.

Once a general ledger accounting period is closed, PR198 will post any open PR transactions to the current open GL period.

  4. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Period

Select the period that should be closed. If no period is entered, the current period will be closed.

    Year

Select whether the period is in the current or next general ledger year.

If you specified open periods on System Control (GL01.1) PR196 advances the valid entry dates. If you did not specify open periods, you will need to advance them on GL01.1
