Defining position data item attributes

Another way to access this form is to select Position Management (PO) in the Topic field on Data Item Attributes (HR10.1).

Position data item attributes allow you to define defaults, overrides, and required fields for position codes.

To define position data item attributes

  1. Access Position Rules (PA06.1). The Position Defaults link appears only when the Position Rule inquired upon is defined to use formal positions.
  2. Select the company for which the position code is defined.
  3. Select the process level and department for which the position code is defined.
  4. Type the effective date of the position rule for which the position code will depend and inquire.
Note: There is one set of Position Item Attributes. Position Item Attributes are not effective dated, thus are not associated with a given Position Rule.
  5. Click on the Position Defaults button to access Position Item Attribute (HR10.2).
  6. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Process Level

If the position rule holds a process level, it will be brought over to the position item attributes screen. The user may enter attributes for that process level, for a different process level, or for the company by clearing the process level field. A position rule does NOT have to exist for a given process level in order to define attributes for that process level (these are independent features).

If the attributes for one field need to be specific to a process level, ALL attributes must be defined for that process level.

If no attributes are defined for a process level, the company attributes will apply to positions in that process level. The process level entered on Position (PA02.1) determine which attributes are applied, not the employee process level.

    Required

Select whether the data item is required when you add or change a position record using Position (PA02.1).

    History

Select whether the changes to the data items on Position (PA02) are logged to history.

    Default

Select whether this information should default on employee, requisition, and position, job action records, and whether an override is allowed.

  7. Select the Change function.
