Position reason codes

A position reason code gives an explanation for a change to a position code. You use position reason codes to track when and why changes are made to the structure of position codes.

Example

ABC Company has a clerk position in the Mail Room department dated January 1, 1999. The Mail Room and Stock Room departments combine into a single department called Office Support on February 1, 2000. The ABC Company then adds a new clerk position record with an effective date of February 1, 2000. The selected position reason code is Restructure and the department name is changed to Office Support. An audit trail now exists to clarify when and why the position changed.
