Performing a corrective personnel action

The special processing functionality on Individual Action (PA52.1) and Position and Job Action (PA52.5) lets you perform a number of corrective actions. Change the effective date of a pending action, enter a retroactive change, combine a new action with a previously updated action, or reverse an entire previously updated action.

To perform a corrective personnel action

  1. Depending on your need, access Individual Action (PA52.1) or Position and Job Action (PA52.5).
  2. Select the Company, Employee, and Action Code. Select the Position Level if appropriate.
  3. Type an Effective Date and select the Inquire form function.

    If you are changing the effective date of a pending action, you inquire on the pending action record. If you are combining an action, enter the action code and effective date of the historical action you want to combine with the present action. If you are reversing an action, enter the action code and effective date of the historical action you want to reverse.

  4. In the Special Processing tab, use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Process Type

    Select the type of correcting action needed. What you select here determines what other fields on the subform that will need entry.

    For Change Effective Date, enter the date in the New Effective Date field. No other field changes can be made when changing the action effective date.

    For Retroactive Change, select the option of what to do with the employee's later history records in the History Correction field.

    For Combine with Hist Action, select the historical action number that this action will be combined with in the Action Number field. Select the option of what to do with the employee's later history records in the History Correction field.

    For Reverse an Action, select the historical action number that will be reversed in the Action Number field. Select the option of what to do with the employee's later history records in the History Correction field.

    New Effective Date

    Type the new effective date for a pending action. The Process Type field must be set to Change Effective Date (1).

    No other field changes can be made when changing the action effective date.

    History Correction

    Select the method to use for correcting employee history files when a retroactive change is performed. If you leave this field blank, the history correction method set on Action (PA50) is used. If the history correction method on PA50 is not set, the company default set on Company (HR00) is used.

    Action Number

    Type the historical action number for which this change action should be combined OR should be reversed. The Process Type field must be set to Combine w/Hist Action (3) or Reverse an Action (4).

  5. Select the appropriate form action.
