Assigning physical and mental requirements

Assign information about the physical and mental requirements of a job or position. Physical and mental requirements include characteristics such as the ability to lift a certain number of pounds, or the possession of a strong math aptitude.

To simplify this task, assign general physical and mental requirements to job codes. Then assign only unique physical and mental requirements to a position.

Unlike qualifications, Personnel Administration does not take physical and mental requirements into consideration when performing candidate qualification searches.

To assign physical and mental requirements

  1. Access Physical, Mental Requirements (PA08.3).
  2. Complete the form. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Job code

    Select the job code to assign requirements.

    Position

    Select the position code to assign requirements.

    Type

    Select a type of physical or mental requirement that you want to define.

    Requirement

    The HR code under the type you selected in the Type filed.

    Essential

    The value that indicates whether this is an essential requirement for the job or position.

    Percent

    The percent of time the employee is subject to this physical or mental requirement.

  3. Select the Add form function.
