What happens when I clear ledger company balances?

You can "zero out" (clear) the balances and transactions from a ledger company or all the ledger companies within a ledger. For each ledger company that you select, the balances and transactions for the period or range of periods that you select are zeroed out. You can also keep the beginning balances or zero them out.

This option is useful if, for example, you set up a test ledger and decided to make it a real-time ledger.
