Fiscal year considerations

Multi-Book Ledger calendar periods initially inherit the status of the General Ledger periods that have the same ending dates. In the previous diagram, period 6 of the General Ledger calendar ending 06/30/000 has a Limited Close status, and so does period 4 of the Multi-Book Ledger calendar that also ends 06/30/00.

Consequently, you cannot map a General Ledger period later than the General Ledger current period to a period in the current year of the Multi-Book Ledger calendar. If you try, the period ends up in the next year of the Multi-Book Ledger calendar, because any Multi-Book Ledger open periods that precede period 1 must be in the current year calendar.

Example

Assume that you mapped GL period 10 2000 to ML period 1 2000. Because GL period 9 is open, its counterpart in ML is also open and must therefore remain in the ML current calendar year as period 12 ending 09/30/2000. ML period 1 ending 10/31/2000 is therefore pushed to the next year calendar, as shown in this diagram.
