Defining posting accounts

For each posting accounting unit, you must define one or more posting accounts. Use posting accounts to indicate which detail accounts an accounting unit is allowed to post to. You must assign detail accounts to accounting units during setup, or use the dynamic account assignment feature to automatically assign a detail account when you add a transaction. This chapter covers the procedures that you can use to define posting accounts.

An accounting unit must exist before you can assign detail accounts to it to create posting accounts.
