Kit items

You can order kits, which include a certain set of items. A kit may also have items that you can add to the order as options or accessories. You can choose two kinds of kits:

  • Make-to-order kits

  • Finished goods

Make-to-order kits are assembled after entering an order for a kit item. A make-to-order kit consists of several components. Components that are not required are called accessories. Components can also have options such as the color of the box. If you choose a component with an option, you must select the option to include.

Finished goods are pre-assembled and are stocked as a complete kit item. All components are required in a finished good, and finished goods do not have accessories or options. Because there are no individual components, you specify an order for a finished good as if it were an inventoried item.

You define kit items in Inventory Control. For more information, see the Inventory Control User Guide.
