Data that Lawson sends to WMS (outbound processing)

Outbound processing consists of all data transfers from Lawson to WMS, including:

  • Item Master Data

  • Purchase Orders

  • Shipment Pick Lists

  • Customer Returns

Item master data

Item master data is stored in both Lawson and WMS. The item master download ensures the synchronicity of items between the two systems. The items are downloaded as they are entered in Lawson.

The item master download automates the creation and updates of Lawson items in WMS. It allows users to define the items in Lawson so they can later perform transactions on the items in WMS.

Note: Do not mark items as inspection items in Lawson. Lawson does not pass this information to WMS. Rather, WMS determines the items that need inspection.

Purchase orders

The WMS Inbound (Receiving) Advanced Ship Notice (ASN) download interfaces approved purchase orders from Lawson into WMS and provides WMS with the necessary receiving requirements.

Users create and approve purchase orders in Lawson. Only items present in the item interface (inventory items) are sent to WMS. A batch-driven program is then run periodically to process the records in the interface ASN bridge tables to download the purchase order information from Lawson to WMS.

Shipment pick lists

A customer order with a header, detail lines, and comments is created in Lawson Distribution Management. After this order is allocated against as ready to be picked, it is released into the shipment tables in Lawson as a picking list with a document type of SH (shipment).

Customer returns

A customer return authorization is created in the Order Entry application based on items expected to be returned by the customer. If the return location is defined as a WMS location, then the interface records with a header, lines, and comments are created. These records are then available to WMS to receive against.
