About delaying allocation of a customer order line

You can delay allocation and enter an order in advance of the date the customer needs the items. A feature called future order lets you give the customer order a future ship date. If you flag an order line as a future order, then the inventory is not allocated until you are ready to prepare the shipment for the customer. See About processing future orders.
