The interface process between the Lawson Distribution Management and other Lawson applications

This section explains how the Lawson Distribution Management applications interface with other Lawson applications.

Application interface: How the applications interface with each other

The Lawson Distribution Management applications interface with each other as follows:

  • Order Entry - The Order Entry application sends sales order information to the Warehouse application, which in turn, creates shipments.

  • Warehouse - The Warehouse application updates the line items with in-process updates and sends the information to the Order Entry application.

  • Billing - The Order Entry application provides bookings, which are a measure of item demand, to the Billing application. The Warehouse application provides shipments for invoicing to the Billing application.

  • Production Order - The Order Entry application provides document demand to the Production Order application that it uses to drive production.

  • Sales Analysis - The Billing application provides bookings from the Order Entry application and sales from the Billing application to the Sales Analysis application.

Order Entry

The Order Entry application interfaces with these Lawson applications:

  • Tax - The Tax application provides tax codes and rates to the Order Entry application.

  • Purchase Order - The Order Entry application provides the PO interface record for create PO order lines to the Purchase Order application.

  • Accounts Payable - The Accounts Payable application defines the freight vendors and the vendors used in the create PO order processing scenario and sends the information to the Order Entry application.

  • Inventory Control - The Inventory Control application provides item definitions and inventory balances to the Order Entry application.

  • Project Accounting - The Project Accounting application provides activity codes to the Order Entry application. The Order Entry application creates commitments and sends them to the Project Accounting application.

  • Accounts Receivable - The Accounts Receivable application provides customer definitions and defaults to the Order Entry application.

  • General Ledger - The General Ledger application defines the accounts needed and sends the information to the Order Entry application. The Order Entry application sends the interface general ledger entries for customer returns to the General Ledger application.

Warehouse

The Warehouse application interfaces with these Lawson applications:

  • Purchase Order - The Purchase Order application makes the create PO order lines that have been received available for Warehouse allocation.

  • Requisitions - The Requisitions application sends requisition demand information to the Warehouse application, which in turn, creates shipments.

  • Inventory Control - The Warehouse application updates the stock on hand and sends the information to the Inventory Control application.

Billing

The Billing application interfaces with these Lawson applications:

  • Tax - The Tax application provides tax codes and rates to the Billing application. The Billing application updates the tax information and sends it to the Tax application.

  • Project Accounting - The Billing application changes the commitments to actuals and sends this information to the Project Accounting application.

  • Accounts Receivable - The Accounts Receivable application provides customer definitions and defaults to the Billing application. The Billing application updates open orders and credit balances and provides interface receivable records to the Accounts Receivable application.

  • General Ledger - The General Ledger application defines the accounts needed and sends the information to the Billing application. The Billing application sends the interface general ledger entries for cost, sales, discount, tax, and freight to the General Ledger application.
