Broken case charge (BL/DST)
A broken case charge is an add-on charge that you can assign to price modifiers. You can use broken case charges when the customer orders an item quantity that requires multiple units of measure for pricing. The charges apply to items with more than one pricing unit of measure. If you know that your prices already include broken case charges, then do not add these charges to the invoice.
The price charged to a customer is the same amount, regardless of the unit of measure used at order entry. For example, a customer orders 39 cans of soda pop. You can price soda pop by case, 12-pack, and by each just like in this table:
Pricing unit of measure | Price |
---|---|
Case | $10.00 |
12-pack | $5.50 |
Each | $0.50 |
The broken case charge assigned to this customer is $10.00. This table shows how you can price the order in :
Order quantity | Pricing for each UOM | Final price |
---|---|---|
1 case | $10.00 | $10.00 |
1 12-pack | $5.50 | $5.50 |
3 each | $0.50 | $1.50 |
The order total is $17.00. You can print the broken case charge of $10.00 on the invoice and add to the order line.
