Defining a Ceiling and Tolerance at the Activity Level

You can define a ceiling at the activity level by summary, contract, or posting activity. A tolerance defined at the activity level will allow additional billing or revenue recognition above the contract ceiling or ceilings set at lower levels.

To define a ceiling and tolerance at the activity level

  1. Access Activity Billing (BR00.1).
  2. Type or select an activity and select the inquire form action.
  3. Type a contract amount, and if applicable, contract tolerance amount, for the activity. The following rules apply for ceilings and tolerances:
    • If the ceiling is zero, a tolerance is not allowed.

    • If you change the ceiling or tolerance, the new ceiling plus tolerance must still exceed any previously billed amounts for the activity.

    • If an existing ceiling has already been exceeded using a tolerance, the ceiling can not be reduced.
