Using the Monthly Measurement Method for processing

ACA Monthly Measurement Method is used to analyze the hours worked in a month to determine whether the next month is considered ACA benefit eligible.

  1. Access ACA Parameter Setup (BN00.5).
  2. Use one of two Monthly Methods
    • Actual Month Hours: This method is based on hours worked in the month only. If hours are equal to or greater than the ACA Parameters (BN00.5) > Average Monthly Hours, then the individual is considered Benefit Eligible, otherwise they are Not Benefit Eligible.

      Note: If you are using actual hours only, do NOT setup the Monthly Measurement Method - Weekly rule parameters. When these parameters are used, then HRM processing is based on the weekly rule logic.
    • Monthly (Using weekly rule): This method is based on BN00.5 Monthly Measurement Method – Weekly rule setup. If hours are equal to or greater than the ACA Parameters (BN00.5) > Monthly Measurement Method – Weekly rule > Average 4 Week Hours or Average 5 Week Hours, then the individual is considered Benefit Eligible, otherwise they are Not Benefit Eligible.

      Note: If you are processing Monthly Measurement - Weekly rule:
      1. Specify Average 4 Week Hours

      2. Specify Average 5 Week Hours

  3. Click the Monthly Setup button and set up individual weeks for each month of the year.
  4. Select a Company and specify the Year.
  5. Specify this information:
    Select Day to Include

    The period measured for the month must contain either the week that includes the first day of the month or the week that includes the last day of the month. For more information, see the KB Article: How do I process "Enhanced" ACA Monthly Measurement Method within HRM?.

    Select First Day of Week

    For this purpose, week means any period of seven consecutive calendar days applied consistently by the applicable large employer member for each calendar month of the year.

  6. Specify the number of weeks for each of the months.
