Sell price unit of measure (BL/DST)
A sell price unit of measure (UOM) is the unit of measure with which you price items. You can have multiple sell price UOMs for any inventory item. You are not required to establish a base price for each valid unit of measure in the Billing
To convert the quantity that you order to the smallest UOM available using any valid sell price UOM conversion process, you can use the Billing application when calculating the price for the item.
Sell price UOM example
A company sells soft drinks in cases, six-packs, and individual cans.
UOM | Price |
---|---|
Case | application. If you specify a unit of measure other than the default, then you must provide a 9.60 |
Six-pack | 3.00 |
Each | .75 |
A customer orders 39 cans. You can use the Billing application to read the quantity ordered and calculate that the quantity fills 1 case, 2 six-packs, and 3 individual cans.
If the quantity invoiced forces multiple units of measure to be shipped, then the line may be eligible for a broken case charge. You can assign broken case charges to price lists, promotions, and contracts. For information about setting up customer eligibility for broken case charges, see the Accounts Receivable User Guide.
