Bills of Exchange options for defining a bank

If you are planning on processing Bills of Exchange, you will need to setup credit lines and payment formats. The following procedures describe how to perform each task.

To define credit lines for Bills of Exchange

  1. Click the Credit button on Bank (CB00.1) to open Credit Risk (CB01.1).

  2. Define credit lines used for remitting bills of exchange at a discount. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:

    Credit Line

Type a unique code for the credit line.

    Credit Limit and Actual

Type the amount of available credit for the credit line.

    Margin Days

Type the number of days to be added to the bill of exchange due date before a bill of exchange will be considered cashed by the bank and no longer a credit risk. If left blank, no margin days are used.

    Due From

To define a range of bill of exchange due days for the credit line, type a beginning due day. The range is used to select bills of exchange for discounted remittance.

    Due To

To define a range of bill of exchange due days for this credit line, type the ending due day. The range is used to select bills of exchange for discounted remittance.

    Currency

Select a valid currency of the credit line. If left blank, the currency defined for the bank account is used.

    Status

Select whether the status is active or inactive.

To define BOE payment formats

  1. Access BOE Payment Formats (CB01.2).

  2. Define a bill of exchange payment format for each company that uses the bill of exchange payment transaction codes. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:

    Company

    Select a company.

    Transaction Code

Select a valid bill of exchange payment transaction code. Represents a type of bill of exchange payment created in the Lawson Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable application.

    Format

Select a BOE payment format. This represents the bill of exchange payment output.

    Tape ID

If you select a tape format in the Format field, type the identification number of the payment tape.

    Remittance

Select a remittance option. This identifies the type of remittance to create.

Select Always Attached if the remittance form is always attached to the payment. If the remittance has more detail lines than the number you type in the Detail Lines (Attached) field, the system voids the next payment form and continues printing detail lines on the next remittance form. The system continues voiding payment forms and printing detail lines until all detail lines for the payment are printed.

Select Overflow Document if the remittance form is attached to the payment. If the remittance has more detail lines than the number you type in the Detail Lines (Attached) field, the system prints remaining detail lines on one or more separate (Overflow) remittance forms.

    Attached Detail Lines

If printing remittance forms, type the number of detail lines to print on the attached or original remittance form. If left blank, 14 defaults.

    Overflow Detail Lines

If you select Overflow in the Remittance field, type the number of detail lines to print on the overflow remittance form. If left blank, 58 defaults.

    Language

Select the language used to print payment documents and remittance forms for the bill of exchange payment transaction code.
