Entering Returned Payments
There are two steps to processing returned payments: creating a return to maker debit memo and printing the payment request notices. The following procedures describe how to do each procedure.
To enter a returned payment
-
Access Returned Payment (AR82.1).
Note: Payments with associated chargeback adjustments are not eligible for RTM processing.
-
Select the company, customer, batch, and payment. Type the return
date and post date. Use the following guidelines to enter field values:
- Return Text Code
-
The RTM Text Code. This field is associated with up to three lines of RTM print comment text. The print comment text is defined in Return to Maker Text Code Maintenance (AR19.6) and uses the language specified by the Language Code.
- Bill Service Charge
-
Select Yes if you want to charge an RTM service charge, then enter the amount.
- Journal Book
-
Contains the journal book number for the RTM transaction.
- Credit/Debit Account
-
If you selected No in the Bill Service Charge field, enter a credit and a debit account.
If you selected Yes in the Bill Service Charge field, enter a credit account only. The debit will go to the AR account of the process level for the payment.
- Bill All Adjustments
-
Select Yes to charge all adjustments automatically. You do not need to select them individually. Valid only with the Add form action.
- Currency Revalue
-
Select Yes if you want to revalue the payment currency against the base currency to account for the exchange rate fluctuations.
If left blank, the currency revaluation option that was defined on Customer (AR10.1) defaults.
- To release the RTM record, select the Release form action.
