Reinstating a disposed asset

You can reinstate a disposed asset and restore it to a normal asset.

You can reinstate only assets that were disposed within the current fiscal year and that were fully disposed.

Reinstate a disposed asset

  1. Access Reinstate Disposed Assets (AM41.1) and specify or select the disposed asset number and date of reinstatement.
  2. Accept, modify, or reject the journal entries as you are prompted on Reinstate Journal Entries (AM41.2).
Note: Journal entries are prompted only if you have a posting book defined for the disposed asset and the disposal created journal entries that must be reversed by the reinstatement.
    1. Change any data in the journal entry, if necessary.
    2. To accept a journal entry, select Add. The asset is disposed of.

      or

To delete the journal entry, close the form without choosing Add. The asset is reinstated, but the journal entry is not recorded.

The prompted journal entries reverse the entries made by the disposal and restore all the asset and depreciation accounts to their status before the disposal. If you do not accept the journal entries or if you modify them in any way, you must verify that the General Ledger entries are correct.

  3. Return to AM41.1 and select the Release form action to release the reinstatement.

    or

Use Processing Release (AM170) to release the reinstatement.
