Book Purge

Book Purge (AM310) Use to remove asset book records from a book and company or company group. You can purge all asset book records, or only historical asset book records.

Caution:
This program permanently deletes data. Before you run this program, back up the data according to your organization's procedures. Before you submit the report, carefully review the parameters.
Note: You have the option to specify that you want to purge book and/or book history by asset or by list. If you chose to purge All, you must change the status of any book you want to purge to I (Inactive).

You can use the historical purge option to remove history records from companies for which you will not collect historical data. The depreciation history option is defined at the book level. Consequently, all companies that use a book with the Depreciation History field set to Y (Yes) on Book (AM00.1) or Books (AM00.2) collect historical transaction data. To reduce the size of the book history files, you can purge unwanted depreciation history records from the database.

You can also archive the purged data to a set of comma-separated value (CSV) files. Asset Management generates a separate CSV file for each database file affected by the purge selection and saves the files in this directory:

For UNIX:

$LAWDIR/ productline /work/ CSVdirectory, where CSVdirectory is a directory of the same name as the file.

For Windows:

%LAWDIR%\ productline \work\ CSVdirectory where CSVdirectory is the same name as the file.

For IBMi:

/LAWDIR/productline /work/ CSVdirectory where CSVdirectory is the same name as the file.

To preserve the archived files, you must copy them to a separate directory. Otherwise, the archived files get overwritten each time you run the program again for the same types of records.
