What happens when you transfer a partial asset from a handheld terminal?
You can transfer partial assets from a handheld terminal. The processing presents these variations from the regular transfer process.
-
If you select several items for transfer, the transfer process creates a separate asset for each item transferred, instead of grouping the items transferred into one asset. After the transfer records are interfaced to Asset Management, they have a status of Transfer in Progress. You cannot change them, but you can delete them.
-
If a single asset transfer is associated with multiple transfer records, deleting one transfer record deletes all the transfer records in the set. The asset then returns to its initial state.

If a single asset transfer is associated with multiple transfer records, releasing one transfer record releases all the transfer records in the set.
Example
Asset 1 has three items:
Item 1 with a quantity of 5
Item 2 with a quantity of 3
Item 3 with a quantity of 2
If you use a handheld terminal to transfer items 2 and 3 and interface the transfer records to the Asset Management application, the resulting asset records are:
Asset 1, with item 1 and a quantity of 5
Asset 2, with item 2 and a quantity of 3
Asset 3, with item 3 and a quantity of 2
All three items have a status of Transfer in Progress until you release them.
All three items can be viewed on Transfers (AM30.1).
Deleting one asset transfer record from AM30.1 deletes all three.
Releasing one asset transfer record from AM30.1 releases all three.
