Defining an automatic list

You can create attribute lists that contain a set of attributes and value ranges used to select a group of assets for reporting and processing.

Attribute lists

You need to define attributes before you use them in a list. And you must assign the appropriate attribute values to any asset that you want to be a list member.

Define an automatic attribute list

  1. Access List (MX10.1).
  2. Click the New List button to access Define List (MX10.2). Use this form to define header information for the new list. Specify this information:
    Object Type

An attribute list must be associated with an object type. For Asset Management lists, select ASSET.

    List

This is the user-defined list name.

  3. Click the New List button to open Define List (MX10.2) and add the list header information.

    Specify this information:

    Sort By Attribute tab

You can specify a sort order to be used in reports. Manual lists do not allow sort orders.

After you have added the information, the program navigates back to MX10.1

  4. On MX10.1, define the attribute list. Specify this information:
    Attribute

Select the attribute or attributes to include in the list.

    Value range

For each attribute that you select, specify a value range.

Note: The values must be consistent with the data type and value range (if applicable) defined for the attribute on MX00.1.
    Or Group

If you leave this field blank, the relationship between the attributes is an AND relationship, meaning that an asset will belong to the list only if it satisfies all the attribute values.

You can specify 1 to denote an OR relationship, meaning that an asset will belong to the list if it satisfies any of the attribute values.

Note: If you need to change the Or Group value, you must first delete the attribute line, then re-enter it with the new Or Group value.
    Preview button

Click this button to open Query List Members (LM23.3) and preview the current list members.

Note: As long as the list remains automatic, it gets updated each time you use the Preview button from this form or from the Asset Management application.
Note: Before an asset displays on the list, you must assign it attribute values that match the list criteria.
  5. To view the list members, click the Preview button and open Query List Members (AM23.3).
