How does the inventory process work?
The inventory process compares the asset items that are in inventory with the data that resides in Asset Management and checks whether these data matches:
-
The asset item location
-
The asset item quantity
The inventory process also lets you note the condition of the item at the time of inventory.
If there are mismatches, the inventory process lets you print or view a listing of the mismatches and provides a reason for the mismatch.
The inventory process does not correct the mismatches. You must make the necessary changes in Asset Management to match the data with the data produced by the handheld terminals.
After you reconcile all the data, you can update the inventory. Updating the inventory results in the following for each reconciled item:
-
The new inventory date replaces the last inventory date.
-
The condition of the item is updated with the condition at the time of the inventory.
-
Reconciled records are removed from the inventory interface file.
