Budget setup overview

This table shows an overview of the prerequisite, required, and optional setup for Project Accounting.

Task Setup Reference
Completing prerequisite setup

Before you start defining budgets, you must define components that you can use to create new budgets. This setup is conditional; define the following only if your methods for defining budgets require them:

  • Factors

  • Spread codes

See Prerequisite setup for budget.
Defining activity group budgets

If you define activity group budgets, then use these set of procedures:

  • Defining activity group budget headers

  • Defining activity group budgets: life only, annual, or period

  • Copying existing budgets (optional method)

See Define activity group budgets.
Defining activity budgets

If you define activity budgets, then use these set of procedures:

  • Defining activity budget headers

  • Defining activity budgets: life only, annual, period, by activity, or by account category

  • Copying existing budgets (optional method)

  • Interfacing budgets (optional method)

See Activity budgets.
Defining budgets using computes

If you define computed budgets, then you must use these group of procedures:

  • Defining activity budget headers

  • Defining activity budgets

  • Defining a compute statement

  • Defining compute parameters

  • Calculating budgets

See Define computed budgets.
Changing budgets

After budgets are defined, you must make changes. Use these procedures to make those changes using change orders:

  • Entering change orders

  • Approving change orders

  • Releasing change orders

  • Locking a budget (optional)

See Change budgets overview.
