Running a Transaction Writer report

You must only define transaction reports once, and then you can run them at any time. Use this procedure to generate a one or more Transaction Writer reports based on the parameters defined on Transaction Writer (AC55.1).

Access Transaction Writer Report (AC256).
On the Main tab, select the transactions for which a report is required. Specify this information:

Folder or Reports

Select a folder name if you run all reports stored in the folder.

As an alternative, you can select the specific Transaction Writer report to generate. You can run up to eight individual reports at one time.

Transaction Dates or Post Dates

You can include transactions for a specific transaction or posting date range. If you select Transaction Dates, then you must leave the Posting Date fields blank.

To list information for all transaction or posting dates, leave the date range fields blank.

Note: If you selected Transaction Dates or Post Dates as a field and specified in dates for the corresponding Value Range field on the Secondary Values tab in Transaction Writer (AC55.1), then the values you specify in here override those values.
On the Overrides tab, override the activity, account category, transaction date, and posting date values you select on the Primary Values tab on AC55.1. Specify this information:
Activity Group List, Activity Group, Activities, or Activity List

Select the activities that you intend to see transactions. You can select by activity group list, activity group, up to six activities, or activity list. You can specify values in only one of these fields.

Search Method
When a Transaction Writer report is generated, the transaction data is searched first by activity or by user attributes. This field determines the method used by Transaction Writer.

The search method you select in this field overrides the search method you selected on the Basic tab on Transaction Writer (AC55.1):
- S - System Controlled: Analyze the selected parameters and select the best method.
- C - User Attributes: Search by user attributes. To use this method, secondary selects must exist and each Or group must contain at least one user-defined attribute.
- A - Activity: Search by activity.
  Note: The search method can affect the processing time for the report. You can try selecting a different search method to improve processing time.
