Defining compute parameters

Use this procedure to define compute parameters. Compute parameters identify the specific Project Accounting or General Ledger information to use with data dictionary names in a compute statement.

  1. Access Compute Parameters (AC34.1).
  2. Specify a name and provide a description for the compute parameter that you are defining.
    Note: You can use the same set of compute parameters with multiple compute statements.
  3. On the AC Parameters tab, define the activities, account categories, and budget to associate with activity data dictionary names in the compute statement. Specify this information:
    Activity Group List, Activity Group, Activity List, or Activity

    Select the activities to associate with the activity data dictionary name in the compute statement. Select only one of these options.

    Account Categories or Acct Cat Group

    Select the account categories to associate with the activity data dictionary name in the compute statement. Select a range of account categories or an account category group.

    Budget Number

    If the compute statement includes an activity budget data dictionary name, then you can select the budget number to associate with the data dictionary name.

  4. On the GL Parameters tab, define the GL information to associate with General Ledger data dictionary names in the compute statement. Specify this information:
    Company, Company Group, or Acct Unit List

    Select the company or company group containing the accounting unit to associate with the General Ledger data dictionary name in the compute statement. To associate multiple accounting units with the General Ledger data dictionary name, select a list of accounting units.

    Accounting Unit

    If you selected a company or company group, then select the accounting unit to associate with the General Ledger data dictionary name.

    Accounts or Account Group

    Select the accounts to associate with the General Ledger data dictionary name. You can select a range of accounts or an account group.

    Subaccounts or Subaccount Group

    Select the subaccounts to associate with the General Ledger data dictionary name. Select a range of subaccounts or a subaccount group.

    Budget Number

    If the compute statement includes a General Ledger budget data dictionary name, then select the budget number to associate with the data dictionary name.

    Note: If the compute statement contains a data dictionary name that identifies accounting unit balances by activity such as YTDAUA, then you must complete the AC Parameters tab and the GL Parameters tab.
