Remote Site Indicator (GL01.5)

Use Remote Site Indicator (GL01.5) to identify which machine you want to transfer general ledger transactions to on each machine or database that creates subsystem transactions.

Processing effect

When you define the general ledger system code as a remote site, each subsystem creates general ledger transactions in a comma separated value (CSV) Remote General Ledger Transaction file. You need to transmit the transactions to the machine or database where the General Ledger system is located by moving the CSV files to the target machine or database, importing the CSV file data to the General Ledger Remote Transfer (GLREMOTETX) (UNIX/Windows) or (DBIFGTX) (IBM i) database file, and running Remote Site GL Transaction Upload (GL311) to load the data to the General Ledger Transaction (GLTRANS) (UNIX/Windows) or (DBGLGLT) (IBM i) file.

Note: If you work in a single machine or single database environment, you do not need to define remote site information. Subsystems send general ledger transactions directly to the General Ledger system. The remote site information applies to all companies on the source machine.
