Global Location Numbers (IC58.1)
Use Global Location Numbers (IC58.1) to assign and maintain Global Trade Numbers (GLN). This is the only screen where you can edit GLNs and their associations to Lawson entities.
The GLN is a 13-digit number used to uniquely identify any legal, functional, or physical entity.
Add new GLNs by entering Item Group, GLN and Description and status (with an optional Parent).
Assign GLNs to entities by selecting a Type and using the Change function.
You can assign GLNs to the following entities:
- 01 - GL Company
- 02 - IC Company
- 03 - IC Location
- 04 - Req Location
- 05 - Manuf Code
- 06 - Manuf Division
- 07 - AP Vendor
- 08 - AP Vendor Loc
- 09 - PO Vendor
- 10 - PO Vendor Location
- 11 - IC Bin
- 12 - Buyer-Code
The GLN provides a standard means to identify physical locations and legal entities to improve the efficiency of communication within the supply chain. As the name implies, Global Location Numbers are the GS1 Identification key for locations. Examples of parties and locations than can be identified with GLNs are:
- Functional Entities - for example, a purchasing department within a legal entity, an accounting department, a returns department, a nursing station, a ward, a customer number within a legal entity, and so on.
- Physical Entities - for example, a particular room in a building, warehouse, warehouse gate, loading dock, delivery point, cabinet, cabinet shelf housing, room within a building, hospital wing, and so on.
- Legal Entities / Trading Partner - for example, buyers, sellers, whole companies, subsidiaries or divisions such as suppliers, customers, financial services companies, freight forwarders, and so on.
