AM Bar Code File Interface (AM154)

Run AM Bar Code File Interface (AM154) to interface a file downloaded from a hand-held terminal (HHT) into the Asset Management application.

Process at a glance

  1. Scan the items that you will add, transfer, dispose, or inventory with a hand-held terminal.

  2. Download the addition, transfer, disposal, or inventory HHT file and use a transfer utility such as winptxfr to transfer the file to your environment.

  3. (This step) load the HHT file into the appropriate Asset Management file.

  4. Verify and edit the contents of the loaded file using the appropriate Asset Management form.

  5. Depending on the process:

    • Add and release the added assets
    • Release the transferred or disposed assets
    • Reconcile the inventoried assets

Processing effect

The Process Type is enough to identify both the Asset Management database file into which the data is loaded, and the HHT file to be loaded. But if you will modify the HHT file name, you must specify the new file name in the File name field.

  • If you select ADD (Addition) in the Process Type field, then the program will look for a file named x-AMADD.txt (where x identifies the specific HHT used) and loads it into AMINTER (UNIX/Windows) or DBAMAMI (IBM i).
  • If you select TRF (Transfer) in the Process Type field, then the program will look for a file named x-AMTRF.txt (where x identifies the specific HHT used) and loads it into AMASSETTRF (UNIX/Windows) or DBAMATF (IBM i).
  • If you select DSP (Disposal) in the Process Type field, then the program will look for a file named x-AMDSP.txt (where x identifies the specific HHT used) and loads it into AMASSETDSP (UNIX/Windows) or DBAMASD (IBM i).
  • If you select INV (Inventory) in the Process Type field, then the program will look for a file named x-AMINV.txt (where x identifies the specific HHT used) and loads it into AMASTITINV (UNIX/Windows) or DBAMIIV (IBM i).

If you change the name of the HHT file, you must type the name of the file you want to load in the File name field.
