Creating Drill Around Queries

Use this procedure as a guideline to use the Query Builder to create calls to Internet Drill Around data.

You can create queries that go against either Drill Around Select rules or Drill Around Detail rules. A Drill Around Select rule enables you to retrieve information in a top-level Drill Around—that is, the values listed when users perform a Select on a field. A Drill Around Detail rule enables you to retrieve further information below the level of the Drill Around Select rule.

To create a Drill Around query

Log in to Query Builder.
Select IDA from the Select Command menu to set the command type to Drill Around queries.
In the left pane of the Query Builder, locate a form that contains the Drill Around Select or Detail that you want to query.
Double-click the form ID and then expand the list of Drill Around rules.
Double-click the Drill Around rule you want to use in the query.

When the query works correctly, save the query.
To make the query available to your VB or other application, select the text of the query and then select Copy from the Edit menu to place your query on the Windows clipboard.
Click Execute to test the query.

When the query works correctly, save the query.
To make the query available to your VB or other application, select the text of the query and then select Copy from the Edit menu to place your query on the Windows clipboard.
