OLE DB Object Services User Requirements
In general, security to data is applied through Lawson Security. If the user has access to a particular form, table, field, or drill, the data can be viewed through the desktop product, such as, OLE DB Object Services.
This topic describes additional access requirements for OLE DB Object Services.
Required Resource Management attribute
SSO checks the attribute "Lawson OLE DB Connector" in the user's entry in the Resource Management repository. If it is populated with "ALLOW" or left blank the user can access the tool.
If you are upgrading from an earlier release of Lawson and you had populated the user's RD30 record with "ALLOW" or "DENY" for this attribute, the upgrade process carried over your RD30 settings.
You can populate the OLE DB Connector attribute when you add a new user or update it at any time. You can also set a default value of ALLOW or DENY through Schema Editor. For more information, see the section "Changing the Default Value of a Resource Management Attribute".
Depending on your situation, for example, if you do not have resource issues when power users retrieve large amounts of data during busy system times, you could also choose not to secure the tool and leave the OLE DB Connector attribute blank.
Security access
Like all users who are secured through Lawson Security, OLE DB Object Services users must be explicitly granted access to the forms and data they need.
In addition, all OLE DB Object Services users must be assigned a role to access data associated with query tools. Customers can create a role that provides this functionality. The requirements for the role and steps for creating it appear in a later section of this document. For more information, see the section "Creating, Updating, or Deleting a Role in Resource Management".
