Adding values to the ADDINS attribute

These instructions are for enabling fine-grained access control for Infor Lawson Add-Ins for Microsoft Office users.

With this configuration you can:

  • Give users access to specific functions, for example, Query Wizard only,

  • Display the Ignore Pre-inquire Status and Detail Line Initialization options. (This configuration is required to display these items.)

Take note that this procedure must be performed by a security administrator who is knowledgeable about the Schema Editor.

  1. Open Lawson Schema Editor and select RM Attributes.
  2. Right-click on the ADDINS attribute and select Properties.
  3. Add the codes to the list which already contains ALLOW and DENY options. Increase the Length from 5 to 8 before clicking the Apply button.

    Optional Permission Character for Protected Worksheet

    After the release of version 10.0.9.129, an additional permission is added to Infor Lawson Add-Ins for Microsoft Office, this enables users to upload a partially protected worksheet without providing a password. This permission character is optional and is assumed to be DENIED when a user is granted with the 8-character permission string. To add this permission character, add an A or D at the end of the current 8-character string and change the length of the property to 9.

    Where:

    D - Deny function

    A - Allow function

    x - Do not evaluate, use enclosing component's security setting

  4. In the Length field, specify 9.
  5. In the Schema Editor, select RM Object then select People.
  6. Right-click on the ADDINS attribute and select Properties.
  7. Open the Attribute Definition tab to verify the updated list and to check if the length value is correct.
  8. Use the ldifgen utility and corresponding vendor command to add the changes to Infor Lawson schema.

    For example, if you use ADAM, you should run the command ldifde; if you use IBM Directory Server, you should run the command ldapmodify.

  9. Verify that the changes have been successfully applied to the Infor Lawson schema.
