Security Policies for Other Road Rager Lawson Users

As noted in an earlier section, Road Rager was able to make use of a few Lawson-delivered roles "out-of-the-box" for administrators. For the most part, however, they needed to create custom security classes and rules. The following subsections describe those classes.

Note: You create classes and rules at the same time. When you create a new class, part of the procedure is to add rules for the class.

Lawson Addins for Microsoft Users

Managers and other Road Rager staff who use Lawson Addins for Microsoft (Addins) need to have a user attribute set in their user entry in Resource Management set to "ALLOW." They also need to be assigned a role that provides access to tables and other information that query tool users need. Road Rager called this role LawsonQueryToolsRole.

Administrative Users

In order to get the system up and running as quickly as possible, Road Rager's administrators made use of delivered roles when they could. They were able to assign access almost entirely through roles.

The following table shows which roles were assigned to which type of IT Department worker.

IT Department Worker Roles assigned
Operations Manager

SuperAdminRole

APPowerUser

The Operations Manager is responsible for Accounting as well as IT operations and so needs access to the Road Rager custom APPowerUser role.

IT Director SuperAdminRole
Security Administrator SuperAdminRole
Assistant Security Administrator RMADMIN
System Maintenance Engineer SuperAdminRole
