Adding new ESS and MSS users
This section describes the process that Road Rager used to add the new Employee and Manager users to the Lawson system.
Adding Resource Management information
As they did with their AP implementation, the Road Rager security administration team decided to have the assistant security administrator manually add the new users to the Resource Management system. There were more than 500 entries to be added, a significant amount, but, because the information needed for each user was so similar, adding them was a fairly quick process.
Prior to adding the user, the assistant system administrator compiled a worksheet to gather the following information:
-
User Name
-
Resource Management ID (ID attribute)
-
Names of roles that should be assigned to the user.
-
Names of groups that the user belongs to.
Adding identities for new users
As with the AP implementation, Road Rager decided to use the XML import method of adding users to the system. There were some differences in this situation.
In conjunction with the software developer, Road Rager's security administrator created XML files of user identity information for the following services / agents:
-
OS/Environment service
-
SSOP service
-
APPS801_EMPLOYEE agent (This is the name of the agent that contains identities for the agent that authenticates users of the Employee and Manager Self-Service application.)
The administrator performed the same procedures as for the AP implementation. He followed instructions in the administration document to perform the following basic procedures:
-
Used ssoconfig (the command line tool for configuring the Single Sign-on engine) to create a template for the XML files.
-
Populated the XML files. The Road Rager software developer wrote a program that read the RMID information from Resource Management and operating system information and then wrote the information, along with other user attributes as needed, to an XML file.
-
Imported the identity data to Resource Management.
