lasetup - Lawson Install Setup

Note: This tool is called from lawappinstall and is normally not run directly.

lasetup is a Perl script that loads software onto your system and, in the case of a CTP, will back up any modified files.

Note: Be sure to update your environment Path variable with the location of the Perl software after downloading it.

To run lasetup, specify this information:

perl %GENDIR%\bin\lasetup patch productline

Two log files are created by lasetup, both of which are found in the following directory:

%LAWDIR%\productline\Admin\

  • The install.log file is the log file for the lasetup command. It keeps a cumulative log of all the installations you perform against a given product line. This file is backed up and a fresh log started when you install a full cyclical release over a previous one.

  • The preview.log file records the CTP changes before they are actually made; the file is overwritten with each installation.

    Note: You must wait until \ has completed before installing another CTP. The \ command cannot process multiple CTPs in parallel.

install.log

If there is a problem during lasetup, you need to check for errors and correct them to rerun lawappinstall and properly install the release, MSP, or CTP.

The install.log lists any error messages or warning messages.

The install.log file displays details of the CTP installation. Included in the install.log file is a table that provides details regarding the files being delivered with the CTP. The table consists of the following:

Column Description
File Name The file name column displays a list of the files in the product line to which you are applying the CTP.
Existing Version

The existing version column displays the version number of the file that is installed in the customer product line. The customer version number is accompanied by a symbol indicating the status of the file. These statuses are:

  • M – indicates local modifications have been detected.

  • m – indicates local modifications are possible but lawappinstall is unable to confirm.

  • NL – indicates you are not licensed for this file.

  • + – indicates a new file.
Patch Version The patch version column displays the version number of the file that is delivered in the CTP.
Patched in The patched in column indicates whether a file has been patched.
Backed Up The backed up column indicates if a file has been stored in the backup directory. Files that were determined to have local modifications or suspected of having modifications will always be backed up.
