Translating Help Text

This procedure will allow you to translate a variety of Help text.

Note: The base Help text for U.S. English is with the install of each patch or new release. To prevent your customized Help text from being overwritten, you must translate the Help text under a dialect or a language other than U.S. English.

To translate Help text

  1. On the Language Definition form, select a language other than U. S. English.
  2. Press Xlate (F6) and select Help Text.

    The Help Translation form appears.

  3. In the Product Line field, type or select the product line for the Help text to be translated.

    The system displays the files used in the product line and highlights the first file under the File heading.

  4. To translate Help text for a file, select a file.
  5. To translate Help text for other types of items, press Show (F7) and then use the arrow keys to select the field, index, relation, system, program, form, form field, or program file for which to translate Help text.
  6. Press Xlate (F6).

    The Help Text Translation form appears.

  7. In the upper part of the Help Text Translation form, press Xlate (F6) to move to the lower part of the form.
  8. In the lower part of the Help Text Translation form, type the Help text, and then press Enter twice to save the Help text. Typing Help Text Translations
  9. To continue translating all the Help text, repeat steps 4 - 8.
  10. When you finish translating the field Help text, press Esc.

    The Help Translation form returns.
