Menus
A menu is a list of items you can choose from. For example, toolbars for many software applications contain menus with a drop-down or pop-up list of options. Lawson delivers two types of menus. For application forms, Lawson delivers menus that appear as a list of bookmarks in the Navigation pane of the Lawson Portal. For Environment forms, Lawson delivers menu forms that provide users with a convenient way to access the Environment forms. These Environment menu forms are only accessible through the Lawson Interface Desktop (LID).
You can use the Menu IDs feature of the Form ID Definition utility (tokendef) utility to revise existing menus or to define new menus. Each menu can have up to 36 menu options.
The Environment menu system lets you create a very quick and professional-looking front-end to your commands or programs and provides a common interface between Lawson and non-Lawson systems. You can select one of the menus provided, or you can create your own, adding the programs you use most and saving your customized menu as you would other files.
Just as Environment forms have form IDs, menus have menu IDs, such as laenv or larw for Environment menu forms or GLMN.0 for menus for application forms. Before you can create a menu ID, there must be existing forms and their form IDs, or other menus that you want to include in your menu.
