Setup of Network Services Files

There are two files that you must edit on each machine or node in the network cluster in order to set up the network services for distributed batch processing in a horizontally scaled system. These files enable the necessary communication between programs on the different machines so that the GEN database information on jobs and queues is available throughout the network cluster.

The two files are the services file, located at c:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc and the lainetd.cfg file, located at %LAWDIR%\system.

If you do not set up the network services correctly, you will not be able to connect to remote machines. You may receive the following error:

"TCP error - cannot connect to remote host"

If you receive this error, make sure you have set up the correct paths for the network services programs in lainetd.cfg.

Note: The system supports multiple environment remote batch capabilities. You must add the Environment Name to the Service Name whether you use a single or multiple Environment(s). You need to append the Environment Name to the Service Name of the services file in order for the system to recognize the Lawson Environment. The Environment Name is unique and the sample services file in this document may vary from your actual values.
