Source code copy process: Overview

If you have applied patches to a product line or you have customized programs on a product line, you can copy the source code and metadata files for these programs from the product line to a different product line.

Infor recommends that customers use packageapp instead of manual methods for copying source code. Manual methods continue to be available. Copying program source code and metadata files manually

The packageapp utility performs these steps.

• Verifies that the metadata files for the program are consistent with the GEN runtime repository.
• Bundles the necessary source code and metadata files into a tar file and copy to the target product line.
• Expands the tar file into the target product line.
• Loads the metadata for the program code into the target system.
