Printer Definition

You define output destinations using the Printer Definition utility (prtdef). Output destinations include printers, saving to an output file, or File Transfer Protocol (ftp) to a different system. Before you can define printers with the Printer Definition utility, you must set up the printers on your platform or network.

The maximum number of printers you can set up through prtdef is determined by the mPRINTERS parameter in the univ.cfg file. For more information about the univ.cfg file, see Lawson Administration: Server Setup and Maintenance.

In Lawson Security, you can restrict users access to individual printers, but not to groups of printers set up through the Printer Group Definition utility (prtgrpdef). For more information on the purpose of printer groups, see Defining Printer Groups.
