Defining a Job

Use this procedure to define a single-step job for a batch update or report.

To define a job, you use a batch parameter form, such as Employee Listing (HR211) or Payroll Close (PR197). All batch parameter forms have a set of job definition fields where you provide a unique name and description for the job, and many batch parameter forms have parameter fields as well. The job parameters define the information you want in the report or the data you want processed in a batch update. For example, you might want to define that a report includes a specific company’s data or that a batch update processes a specific company’s data.

To define a job

Access the batch parameter form for the batch update or report program that you want to run.
Enter values in the Job Name and Job Description fields.
Define the job parameters by entering values in the parameter fields.

Click Add. (If you receive a message saying the job already exists, click Change instead of Add, or change the job name to one that does not already exist and then click Add.)
Optional. Set up the print information. For more information, see the section "Working with Print Files".
1. Click the Reports button on the parameter form.
  
  The Reports/Output Files form appears.
2. Consider the following fields and buttons
  
  File Name
  
  The print file for the report you want to print. Some jobs have multiple print files.
  
  Destination
  
  The type of print destination: group, printer, or none.
  
  Group/Printer
  
  The distribution group or printer that you want to send the report to.
  
  More
  
  Click this button to access the Report/Output File Attributes form, where you can modify the storage location of the print file.
3. On the Reports/Output Files form, click OK (the green check mark).
4. Click Change on the parameter form to update the job definition record.
