What Is the Lawson Interface Desktop (LID)?

The Lawson Interface Desktop (often referred to as LID or the Desktop Client) is a desktop client user interface that provides system administrator access to the Lawson Environment.

The Lawson Interface Desktop provides two user interfaces:

  • The graphical user interface has a menu bar with pull-down menus, a tool bar with buttons, and forms that contain fields (text boxes) and additional buttons. You can use a mouse to navigate.

  • For working with Environment programs, the Lawson Interface Desktop (LID) provides a character-based user interface and (on UNIX and Windows) a command line. In contrast to the graphical user interface, you cannot use the mouse to navigate. Instead, you use the keyboard, including function keys for access to the most important actions.
